Do you have a concern for yourself or another person that you would like to discuss in confidence?

We offer a supportive space in which to explore an area of concern away from work pressures, make sense of what is happening, and think together about the best next steps. The issue can be anything, from something in your personal life to distress related to your job or a difficult work problem.

Please have a look at our Frequently Asked Questions below for more information about our service.

Before your appointment

  • We encourage self-referral and have an online form that is quick and easy to fill in. We get back to colleagues after they refer in within a couple of days
  • We then offer the first appointment with a clinical or counselling psychologist within one to two weeks of receiving a referral
  • We work hard to ensure appointments are at a convenient time for busy colleagues.  Most of our appointments are between 9am-5pm Monday to Friday, although we also have some early morning and evening slots

The first appointment

  • Your first appointment with a Clinical or Counselling Psychologist will be between 45 minutes to an hour long
  • It is a chance to have an informal conversation with us to find out about the service and explore what might be of help

What happens next?

  • Colleagues often want to talk to us just one or two times, and we offer up to four support sessions in total
  • The aim of these appointments will be to explore an area of concern away from work pressures, to make sense of what is happening and think together about best next steps
  • It might be that this is referral to another service, in which case we would help you to access it

Most of our appointments are online using MS Teams, although we also offer telephone sessions.

We don’t routinely offer face-to-face sessions as we are a small team covering the whole county.  We are able to reach more people, and offer a quick response, by working remotely.

We do however try to prioritise meeting with teams in person, where possible.

We offer support to health and social care staff working in the statutory and voluntary services in Northamptonshire.

Stronger Together is here for ALL colleagues, whatever your role is in your organisation, and whether or not you are directly involved in clinical or care work.

You can get in touch with us to talk about yourself, or if you are concerned about a member of your team or family.

We also recognise that there is a huge burden of responsibility on leaders at the moment.  We invite senior colleagues to get in touch to share their concerns, either about themselves or others, and can talk about how to arrange out-of-county support if this would be helpful.

Although Stronger Together was set up in response to the pressures of the pandemic, the concern does not need to be linked to the pandemic or your work.

We can meet people individually, as a pair, or in a small group.  You might want to bring a colleague or family member with you, particularly if it is about a shared concern.

If you are concerned about someone else, we will meet with you initially and think about how best to approach the situation.

We do not offer a service to family members in their own right, although we sometimes meet with colleagues together with family members.

We can offer up to four support sessions, flexible to need.  For example, for some colleagues, one or two sessions are enough, whilst others may choose to have all four available sessions.

This does not have to be decided at the first meeting.  Our focus is to respond to needs by providing the space for colleagues to work out what is useful for them, in terms of the number, timing, and focus of the sessions.

Although our offer is usually capped at four sessions, colleagues can refer themselves back to Stronger Together at a later date.

On occasion, there is an issue that requires help from a specialist service or more support than can be provided in four sessions.

If this is the case, we will think carefully with you about other avenues of support.  If this involves a referral to another service, we can help you to access that service.
