Northamptonshire Health and Care Partnership and Healthwatch Northamptonshire hosted a joint community engagement event in May 2019 to give local people the chance to set out their ‘Big Ideas’ for the future of health and care in our county.
The event was attended by patients, service users, carers and professionals, who came together to discuss how Northamptonshire’s health and care organisations can support our communities to choose well, stay well and live well – and work together to ensure local services are fit for the future.
Your Big Ideas are the key headlines which emerged from this engagement and they are summarised in the downloadable slide opposite.
The full report from the NHCP and Healthwatch engagement event detailing the discussions, feedback and outcomes from this engagement event has now been published and is available to view here. You can also read a digested summary version of the report here.
The May 2019 event followed on from further engagement with members of the public, unpaid carers and people living with long-term health conditions through Healthwatch’s ‘What Would You Do’ campaign. Hundreds of Northamptonshire residents have also shared their views about health and care in our county in an online survey during August and September.
All this work is helping us to develop the Northamptonshire Health, Care and Wellbeing Plan, our local response to the NHS Long Term Plan and our commitment as health and care organisations to work together towards a positive lifetime of health, wellbeing and care in our community.
But the conversations certainly don’t stop here! We will continue to provide opportunities for local people to have their say and get involved as we work to improve health and care services in our county. If you want to be a part of this process, visit our Get Involved pages.
The Northamptonshire Health, Care and Wellbeing Plan – join the conversation and have your say
In January 2019 the NHS launched its Long Term Plan, which sets out its ambition to make sure everyone has the best start in life, receives world-class care for major health problems and gets the support they need to age well.
Locally, our county’s health and care organisations are working together through Northamptonshire Health and Care Partnership (NHCP) to shape our local response to this, called the Northamptonshire Health, Care and Wellbeing Plan.
This plan represents the commitment between health and care providers in Northamptonshire and the members of the local Health and Wellbeing Board to work together on a plan for our county.
Together our vision for the future of Northamptonshire’s health and care is to have a positive lifetime of health, wellbeing and care for all those in our community.
October 2019 update: the public survey launched in August to help shape the development of the Northamptonshire Health, Care and Wellbeing Plan is now closed. We thank everyone who participated and shared their views.
The first draft of the Northamptonshire Health, Care and Wellbeing Plan was submitted to NHS England and NHS Improvement at the end of September. We will now continue to work to ensure our plan delivers the changes the people of Northamptonshire want to see, tackles the challenges facing our health and care services and builds on the progress we have already made together as NHCP.
The final plan will be published on these pages later this year – but our conversations with our local communities certainly won’t stop there! We will continue to provide opportunities to have your say and get involved in our work to improve local health and care services. If you want to be a part of this, sign up to get involved here.
