LIVE: Reducing the Stigma of Mental Health Difficulties
Natalie Kemp will lead this session. She will look at why there is so much shame and stigma for health and care staff in asking for help, and argue for change so that openness about vulnerabilities is genuinely and positively valued. There will be opportunities for small group interaction during this session. Sharing lived experience of mental health difficulties on the day will not be required; but should people choose to share during the exploration of themes, they will be most welcome to do so and their experiential knowledge will be valued.
Natalie is a Clinical Psychologist and Founder CEO of in2gr8mentalhealth, a centre for valuing, supporting and destigmatising lived experience of mental health difficulties in mental health professionals. in2gr8mentalhealth sites its work within a whole-systems framework, engaging with all the pillars of the mental health scene including professional bodies, regulators, clinical training courses and trusts. They work with blind spots and gaps in system policy and practice, and offer one to one and group peer mentoring to empower a ‘giving back’ of received stigmatised denigrations.
This session will be available to watch again at any time.
