A series of informal in-person activity groups to share experiences and provide support to people who have dementia, and their carers, have been launchedTwo people meet over coffee by Northamptonshire Carers.

These are all free to attend, and you do not need to have had a formal diagnosis to join, those who are living with Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI) are also welcome.

There will be a mixture of thoughtful activities taking place at the groups, which will be indoor and outdoor based, as well as advice from professionals about fire safety, fraud prevention and more.

The groups are a relaxed environment to share experiences, meet others who are in a similar situation and make friends.

Meetings take place across at the following locations and times:

Location: Mouton Parish Church Rooms, NN3 7SW
Time: 10am – 12.30pm
Dates: Tuesdays – on the first (1st) and third (3rd) of the month

Location: The Doddridge Centre, 109 St James Road, Northampton, NN5 5LD
Time: 10am – 12.30pm
Dates: Tuesdays – on the second (2nd) and fourth (4th) of the month

Location: John Whites Golf Club, Bedford Road, Rushden, NN10 0SA
Time: 10am – 12.30pm
Dates: Thursdays – on the first (1st) and third (3rd) of the month

Time: 1 – 3.30pm
Dates: Wednesdays – on the second (2nd) of the month

New male carers support group

A new in-person support group, for anyone who is looking after someone with dementia or memory problems has also been launched by Northamptonshire Carers. This group for male carers meets every two weeks and is free to join.
