Voluntary Impact Northamptonshire has secured funding through The Big Lottery, in partnership with the majority of the county’s borough and district councils, to appoint a project officer to facilitate the development and establishment of the Northamptonshire VCSE (Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprise) Assembly.

It is the aim of the VCSE Assembly to be the “one voice” vehicle that provides the means for VCSE organisations throughout Northamptonshire to meet and exchange information, ideas and good practice. It also aims to create a mechanism to respond to the needs of the VCSE sector and to provide opportunities for joint working.

Currently being developed using a ‘test and learn’ approach, the Assembly will help bring people together and build strong relationships, enabling the creation of robust and resilient communities across the county. Sheffield Hallam University has been commissioned to carry out some independent research to help inform and shape the direction of travel for the Assembly.

The Northamptonshire VCSE Assembly launched on Friday 13 November with an on-line event attracting over 50 participants from across the sector. Feedback from the event is being gathered and next steps include recruitment of a steering group to help guide the Assembly’s direction.
